Monetary Gifts

Hi there,
I am rambling off a list of projects I have completed in the last couple of months for my sister's shower, I really should have been posting them as I completed them but the element of surprise kept me from posting all of my projects.  I am now trying to post them, in the order I remembered completing them.  If you have any questions about any of these projects, would like a tutorial or would like to inquire about my services please feel free to email me.

Due to distance we did a Monetary or gift card shower, which meant I needed something in which to place the cards.  I got the idea of using an antique doll stroller to store the envelopes.  I found an antique stroller, she was a little worse for wear but quite charming.  With a little bit of elbow grease and some crafty ingenuity, the card holder was created and also a beautiful heirloom to pass along as a gift. 

 

Shower Center Pieces

For centerpieces I had envisioned trees with little bird's nests containing one blue egg and one pink egg, with a Mother bird looking down upon the nest.  Apparently we weren't going to have a gender themed shower because the sex of the baby was to be a suprise :)  For the base of the trees I just used mason jars wrapped in burlap and chocolate velvet ribbon.  I wanted it to be a mixture of nature, elegance and casual.  I went to the local craft store which I shall leave not mention the name and found their nests expensive $7 per nest, so a bit of trial and error and I came up with my own.  These were alot of work but I was happy with the end result.  It's just too bad a week after the shower I saw packages of nests at Walmart 5 in a box for $6.  Oh well it's like the expression goes "You always find it when you're not looking for it..." Besides I like mine better they have that added personal touch:)  I also draped some beads, crystals and hot glued some flowers to the branches to give it a more whymsical look.

 Planning my sister's Shabby Chic "Let's Feather her Nest" theme shower on a budget presented me with a challenge. The first project I attempted involved dying coffee filters to create pom poms and coffee filter flower arrangements. They were quite a bit of work but really quite fun to make!

Shower Theme

The time was coming up to plan the baby shower for my sister who was pregnant.  I wanted to do something personal and unique to her personality, keeping in mind the baby nursery was forest themed.  I started trying to come up with ideas of themes, I came up with bird's nests.  After doing some searching around online, I was surprised to find out that right now "Feathering the Nest" is a popular theme.  My sister is also a lover of everything vintage and antique like me.  I came to a decision of doing a combination of themes "Feather the Nest" mixed with shabby chic.  The first thing I created were the invites.

 

 

Followed by the banner: Composed of various card stocks and dyed coffee filters.

 

 

Diaper Cakes

 

My sister had announced she was pregnant and I decided to start dabbling in some baby related crafts the first projects I attempted were diaper cakes. I have created several of them and would be happy to custom create one for you. Please feel free to contact me for a quote.
